Energy

 

Some days I am so motivated and I have so much energy it feels like I can do anything. I get a lot done during the day- exercise, work, go for a walk, stretch, clean the house some, cook dinner. I think, ok I'm going to do this every day this week. YES!

The next day, I could wake up tired. Feeling lackluster. Needing lots of coffee but it's still not cutting it. I need a nap. And on days like this I can get so frustrated, thinking of all of the things I had planned to do. That I NEED to do. Keep up my exercise routine. Work on that project for my business. Go grocery shopping. Cook a nice dinner. This happened last week. I noticed one of my beautiful plants, this purple shamrock. It opens each morning with the sun, and closes in the evening. EVERY DAY without fail, its beautiful leaves open up, looking so pretty and abundant. Reaching for the sky. It really brings me joy just looking at it. And I thought, plants are up and ready to go every day to do their job. WHY NOT ME. Sigh.

Later that evening, I realized. My house plants require certain things in order to be healthy and show up every day. Good soil, the right amount of sunlight, water when it needs it. And my pretty shamrock is getting those things. As humans we have a lot more we need to balance. Yes the basics like food, sunlight, exercise. Also whatever is going on in our minds. What happens in our mind impacts our bodies. These days we may be concerned about the pandemic and everything tied to it- finances, being home most of the time, different vibes at the few places we can go- grocery stores may have plexiglass shields between us and the cashiers, everyone is wearing masks (are they smiling?), common items might be out of stock, some police presence out. This is in addition to what we normally manage. Relationships, work life, family, keeping up our homes, car issues that come up, forgetting something on our grocery store trip. We do so much! It’s really incredible.

So, I am learning when feeling low in energy to trust my body. The mind and body need rest and tender care. There is life and beauty in rest. Energy and motivation comes when its time! ✨
